My first night in Iceland and I stumbled across this cool cliff face that is lit up and happened to catch a tiny bit of Northern Lights later in the evening.
If it was not so later in the year, it looks like this fountain would have been on.
Straight a head is some mini waterfalls and directly to my right is the first of many breathtaking views I would see over the course of two weeks.
This was the first time I had seen so many things all at once: waterfalls, mountains, scrubland, tundra, forests, and much more.
Just a random Icelandic flag in a national park. This was not all that common, but cool none-the-less.
The water from the hot springs and geysers, trickles down hill in small streams. There are multiple signs reminding people that the water is super heated when it comes out of the ground and therefore hot. That did not stop more than one person reaching in and touching the water.
There are multiple hot springs and geysers here. There is a foot path around most of the geysers, but depending on which way the wind is blowing, you are may or may not get soaked.
Even in the fall, there is still so much greenery in Iceland.
There is so much warm water being pumped into the air that moss gross everywhere in a carpet like appearance.
The landscape of Iceland is so alien in many places. It is like nothing else I have seen.
This was the first of many massive waterfalls. As most of this is glacier melt, the water is freezing cold. There is so much water falling, that the updraft sent the mist forever.
This massive gorge is what awaits the water the comes off the Gullfoss Waterfall.
Standing here, you forget just how small you are until you look up and see people standing next to the falls.
The waterfall is just deafening. Standing here, you can barely hear anything over the roar of the water.
My second night in Iceland, I was able to see some phenomenal Northern Lights.
The lights went on for over an hour, but the best of it was 30+ minutes long.
It was freezing outside and even layered up, I was shivering. Little did I know, it was going to get colder on this trip.
I wish I had a better camera and a much wider lens, as these photos do not do it justice that night. Even some of the staff at the campsite came out to watch the show.
